Displaying or hiding conditional formatting

Once you create a conditional format, you can choose to display it or to hide it in the PDF. If you have multiple conditional formats on a single document, you can display or hide all of them or select which ones to display.

By default, users cannot toggle conditional formatting on and off for the entire document. Disabling them can be useful if users should not see certain sections of the document that are displayed or hidden based on conditional formatting.

To enable a conditional format

An enabled conditional format is displayed in the PDF. If you have multiple conditional formats on a single document, you can enable all conditional formatting in a document.

  1. Open the document in Design or Editable Mode.

  2. From the Data menu, choose Conditional Formatting. The Conditional Formatting dialog box opens.

  3. In the Object drop-down list, select the control or section for which to enable conditional formatting.

  4. In the Conditional format list, clear the check box in front of the conditional format to enable.

  5. Click OK to return to the document.

To disable a conditional format

A disabled conditional format is not displayed in the PDF. If you have multiple conditional formats on a single document, you can disable all of the conditional formatting in a document.

  1. Open the document and, from the View menu, select Design Mode or Editable Mode.

  2. From the Data menu, choose Conditional Formatting. The Conditional Formatting dialog box opens.

  3. In the Object drop-down list, select the control or section for which to disable conditional formatting.

  4. In the Conditional format list, clear the check box in front of the conditional format to disable.

  5. Click OK to return to the document.

To display all conditional formatting in a document

The following steps display all conditional formatting in a document, regardless of whether a specific conditional format was enabled or disabled.

  1. Open the document in Design or Editable Mode.

  2. From the Format menu, select Document Properties. The Properties dialog box opens.

  3. Select the Allow toggle conditional formatting check box.

  4. Click OK to apply the changes.

  5. Click the Conditional Formatting icon in the toolbar.

To hide all conditional formatting in a document

The following steps hide all the conditional formatting in a document, regardless of whether a specific conditional format was enabled or disabled.

  1. Open the document in Design or Editable Mode.

  2. From the Format menu, select Document Properties. The Properties dialog box opens.

  3. Clear the Allow toggle conditional formatting check box.

  4. Click OK to apply the changes.
